The LIFEPAK CR Plus defibrillator was discontinued on April 1st 2019. Physio Control made the decision to discontinue this device to focus on developing new technology for their product portfolio.  LIFEPAK CR Plus devices carry an 8-year warranty.

Physio Control continues to support the LIFEPAK CR Plus defibrillators that remain under warranty. The CHARGE-PAK charging stick and Quickpak electrode pads are still available to purchase during this time.

Currently suppliers are experiencing major stock issues from the manufacturer with the CHARGE-PAK charging stick and Quickpak electrode pads meaning lead times cannot be guaranteed. This is due to a temporary stop in production during the Coronavirus pandemic as well as material and resource constraints.

We appreciate the delays we are faced with have a direct impact on our customers and their life-saving equipment. We are concerned with the safety of the general public and believe that everyone should be no more than a 3-minute round trip away from a defibrillator at all times. For this reason and given the discontinuation of the CR Plus device and stock issues, we are advising customers who own the LIFEPAK CR Plus unit (especially older units) to consider upgrading their defibrillator to guarantee the support and readiness of the device with immediate effect.

My LIFEPAK CR Plus defibrillator still works, why would I need to upgrade?

If your defibrillator is now out of warranty, any repairs that are required will come at a cost. It may be more financially viable to purchase a new defibrillator that will be covered under a new warranty period. The warranty varies depending on which make and model you choose but the average warranty for a defibrillator is 8 years. By purchasing a new unit, you will have peace of mind knowing that if anything goes wrong with the unit, a repair will be carried out at no additional cost to you.

The older the unit, and therefore the further out of warranty, the more likely it is to encounter a fault that would prevent the device from being able to deliver life-saving treatment in an emergency.

The charge stick that plugs into the battery trickle feeds it to power the LIFEPAK CR Plus and may need replacing sooner than expected with older models. This is due to the battery in these older models depleting faster as it becomes older and unable to hold the charge as well.

This will require you to purchase a CHARGE-PAK charging stick and Quickpak electrode pads more frequently and before the expiration date would be up to ensure your defibrillator remains powered. Unfortunately, we are unsure when we will return to standard lead times on this product. This is not the level of service we wish to give our customers so for this reason, we would strongly recommend replacing your LIFEPAK CR Plus with a new defibrillator to ensure your location remains heart safe.
