At defibshop, we are committed to raising awareness of the importance of defibrillators and saving lives. That's why our aftercare service is crucial to ensuring your defibrillator is always in working order.

According to the Resuscitation Council, there are approximately 60,000 cardiac arrests in the UK each year, 90-95% of which are fatal. A shock from a defibrillator and effective CPR is the only definitive treatment for sudden cardiac arrest. It's important to protect and maintain your device to ensure it's always ready to be used in an emergency and to provide a life-saving shock if required.

Why do Defibrillator Pads & Batteries expire?

Defibrillator electrode pads and batteries both have expiry dates typically found on the back of units depending on the make and model. Both pads and batteries need replacing at the end of their expiry dates or if they are used as they are single use only. It is the responsibility of the nominated guardian to ensure the replacements are ordered before this date to keep the defibrillator ready to use.

Regular checks and ensuring the pads and batteries are in date can be the difference between life and death during a sudden cardiac arrest emergency. Without immediate treatment, the chance of survival decreases by 10% per minute.

How Does the reminder service work?

Each month, for the 3 months prior to expiry, you will receive a reminder email that your consumables (pads or batteries) require changing. Whether or not you have purchased your defibrillator or accessories from us previously, we can still remind you when your products are coming up for expiry.

To be added to be our free reminder system, please fill out this form. You will need to set up an account on our website, which allows you to view your expiry details as well as see any additional items you have purchased from us.

Do I automatically get added to the expiry service after a purchase?

Yes, if you order your pads and batteries through us your expiry dates will be added to our system free of charge. The email connected to your account will receive reminders 3 months prior to expiry date so you can replace your pads or batteries to keep them functional and ready to use before the old ones expire.

It is important to remember that whether or not you have purchased your defibrillator or accessories from us previously, we can still remind you when your products are coming up for expiry.
