The Adopt a Kiosk scheme allows communities to retain their iconic red kiosk and is open to the following bodies:

  • Recognised local authority (e.g. District/Borough Council)
  • Parish/Community/Town Council or equivalent
  • Registered charity
  • Private land owner. (Anyone who has a BT telephone box on their land)

It costs just £1 to adopt a phone box. Find out more and apply to the scheme by visiting BT.

Since the launch of the scheme in 2008, over 5,000 communities have taken the opportunity to repurpose phone boxes that had little or no prior use due to the growth of the mobile phone industry.

There are still around 5,000 kiosks left to be adopted and repurposed. Out of the 1000's of already adopted kiosks, their new purposes include art galleries, information centres and mini museums.

The Community Heartbeat Trust has installed defibrillators in disused phone boxes across the country, giving adopted kiosks a new life-saving purpose.

Make sure your community is heart safe

Put your adopted kiosk to good use by housing a life-saving defibrillator inside. This will ensure the device does not go unnoticed, allowing it to be located and retrieved promptly in the case of an emergency.

We offer a number of custom  Community Defibrillator Packages. Our community packages include everything needed to ensure your device is ready to be used in a rescue to protect your location against Sudden Cardiac Arrest(SCA).

A shock from a defibrillator combined with effective CPR is the only definitive treatment for SCA. Time is of the essence when it comes to responding to a cardiac emergency. Treatment must be delivered within the 3-5 minutes of the cardiac arrest taking place to ensure the best chance of survival. Sadly, 90-95% of all SCA's are fatal due to a lack of quick or effective treatment.

Ensuring there is an accessible, working defibrillator within the community allows bystanders to deliver potentially life-saving treatment in an emergency during the time it takes the emergency services to arrive to the scene.
